Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing (Fast Track) – Seneca Polytechnic

SpaceCat Fit Notes

  1. CASPer: Not required. SpaceCat’s high CASPer score cannot be leveraged here.
  2. GPA window & upgrading strategy: Not applicable. Admission is based on high school Grade 12 averages (minimum 75% overall, 75% in each of four core prerequisite courses). There is no university-level GPA window to reset.
  3. Experiential / written advantage: No written components, interview, personal statement, or supplementary application exist. Admission is entirely grades-based (“only the top ranked applicants” are offered seats). SpaceCat’s shelter work experience and communication strengths cannot be showcased in the application.
  4. Out-of-province: Ontario resident. - “This program is only open to Canadian applicants.” No specific out-of-province restrictions found beyond this. Ontario Colleges applications are available to all Canadian residents. - Ontario does not charge differential domestic tuition by pro…

  5. Overall assessment: Not viable — This is a first-entry program designed for direct entry from high school, not a second-entry or accelerated program for BA holders. Despite the “Fast Track” label, it is simply the standard 4-year BScN compressed into 3 years by eliminating summer breaks. Admission is based on high school courses, not university credentials. SpaceCat would start from Year 1 with no advanced standing for her existing degree. This program does not serve SpaceCat’s goal of an accelerated second-entry nursing pathway.

Quick Facts

IMPORTANT CONTEXT: This Is NOT a Second-Entry Program

Unlike most accelerated/fast-track BScN programs (e.g., U of T, York, Western), Seneca’s “Fast Track” is not a second-entry program for applicants who already hold a prior degree. It is the same 4-year BScN curriculum compressed into 3 years by eliminating summer breaks. Admission is based on high school (Grade 12) courses, not university-level prerequisites. There is no requirement for a prior degree or university coursework.

This is a critical distinction. The program is essentially the standard Seneca BScN (BSN) delivered on an accelerated schedule.

How Applications Are Evaluated

No detailed evaluation criteria or weighting system was published. No supplementary assessments (interview, CASPer, personal statement) are used – admission appears to be entirely grades-based.
